San Diego, CA >> On December 7, after a year of applications, hearings, and appeals with local officials, Grace Church finally received a five-year permit to use a vacant building in an industrial park as their new home. Pastor-in-training Eric Turbedsky sent us an update, grateful for the good news but mindful of the challenges ahead.
Eric Turbedsky:
We were all so encouraged to finally receive a Conditional Use Permit for our Sunhala property. After a year of hearings and meetings, this is good news! There are still some difficult decisions ahead, but progress is being made to apply for building permits in January. We are anticipating a March/April move-in date. Please pray for us:
- we need wisdom on whether or not to contest certain conditions of our permit
- we need God to provide financially as the last year was full of unanticipated costs, and
- we need grace to trust God in the face of stiff opposition.
A local newspaper, The North County Times, covered this story on the day of the hearing. You can read that article here: Church receives five-year permit to operate in Rancho Bernardo's industrial park
The City of San Diego Planning Commission also provides free streaming video of public hearings. The Grace Church hearing begins just after the 31-minute mark and is about one hour and 15 minutes long.
