High Springs, FL >> Last September, Abundant Grace Community Church (Gainesville, FL) hosted “Upward 05,” a family conference at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs. Joining them were Grace Covenant Church (Jacksonville, FL), New Life Community Church (Niceville, FL), and Crossway Fellowship Church (Athens, GA). Pastors from Sovereign Grace churches in Florida taught conference sessions, and the worship team came from all the participating churches.

Mercy in Uganda

Nagongera, Uganda >> In October 2005, a team of doctors and nurses from five Sovereign Grace churches traveled to Nagongera Gospel Centre in rural Uganda. Working with Covenant Mercies (a ministry sponsored by Covenant Fellowship Church), the team treated approximately 1,500 patients, tested many children for HIV, and arranged medical care for children who tested positive. They’re good at theology, but...

Gaithersburg, MD >> For the third consecutive year, Jessica Marcantonio and Mindy Hooper of the Sovereign Grace staff have humbled the men of the Pastors College by defeating them in volleyball. In a rousing match cheered by fans on both sides, the carefully selected PC team of Darren Lander and Jared Mellinger, well, didn’t quite cut it. After a few early misses, the guys found their pace and started to look pretty strong. Before long they were ahead 13-8 in a 15-point game. With momentum on their side, the PC seemed positioned for an easy win. That’s when the ladies rallied, bringing home 7 consecutive points to seal the victory. The sad part is that, for the PC, this was their best year yet.

Indiana, PA >> Mark Altrogge, senior pastor of Lord of Life Church, loves to memorize Scripture. He also likes to write songs–in fact, he’s currently at about 420 and counting. In an interview at the ESV Bible blog, you can read about Mark’s CD series Hide the Word, how he puts Scripture verses to music, and why one of his songs sounds a little like the Beatles. You can even listen to a couple of Mark’s songs on streaming audio while you read.
