Corning, NY >> Three young singles spent a semester serving Sovereign Grace Church, planted in 2003. Senior pastor Allen Snapp told us the story....
This past August three young adults, Jesse and Cassie Aiduk (Crossway Church in Attleboro, MA) and Amanda Reinford (Grace Community Church in Souderton, PA) arrived in Corning, New York, to dedicate the next four months to serving Sovereign Grace Church as part of a program called Catalyst.
In addition to working part-time jobs, the Catalysts went out on several outreaches each week, including GO teams, drink giveaways, car washes, coffee and donuts to our local police departments, reverse trick-or-treating, and giving free hot dog coupons to families at local YMCA sports events, just to name a few! They also helped plan and organize a Fall Festival–and the Lord blessed us with 60-degree weather in mid-November (no small miracle in Corning!).
The Catalysts also served the church tirelessly in ways too numerous to detail–it seemed like everywhere we looked they were there helping out. And of course, in all this they won the hearts of the church and will be greatly missed. But I think the biggest impact on our church was the way their example helped to energize our youth and college-age kids with a fresh passion to share the gospel and go on outreaches.
We are very thankful to the Lord for this program and for Jesse, Cassie, and Amanda and their desire to serve the local church in such a tangible way. What an incredible four months!
