09/28/05 :: Building the church in Tennessee

Knoxville, TN >> Cornerstone Church of Knoxville is hard at work on their new building, with move-in planned for next month. Howard Varnedoe, a pastor at Cornerstone Church, emailed us an update with a photo of the building's almost-finished interior.

God has blessed us with an amazing facility to help us reach Knoxville and the campus of UT with the gospel. The building should be finished in October and we are scheduled to move in at the end of the month. We hope the first Sunday for our members to worship together will be Nov 20. This new facility will also provide us with an auditorium that will seat 1,100, a designated room for our campus outreach, bookstore, a large multi-purpose room, kitchen, soccer field, indoor basketball/volleyball court etc.

Cornerstone 1.jpgWe have planned a Grand Opening Weekend for family, friends, and guests Dec 3 & 4th. The theme of the event is "Amazed" and CJ will be our guest speaker. We have invited Brent, and several other pastors from the South. I am also aware of former members from across the country who are planning to return for this monumental event, including our own Tommy Hill who hinted at stealing away for an insanely quick road trip. Bill said it best a couple of weeks ago in a sermon "I look back and think how did we get here. All I volunteered to do was lead a campus Bible study of 25 and now look at us."

Already this facility has enabled us to host events we could have hardly imagined before. Over the next two years we have arranged for Bob Kauflin, Jeff Purswell, Jerry Bridges, and Tedd Tripp, join us, in addition to visits from C.J. & Brent.
